Abstract 2852 Bacteriophage T4 Early Protein MotB.1 Regulates ibpA RNA Thermometer in Escherichia coli
Bacteriophage T4 early gene products, including motB.1, are non-essential under laboratory growth conditions that remain still with unknown functions and may be involved in phage-host interactions. Translation of small heat shock genes in α- and γ-proteobacteria is controlled by the ROSE (Repression Of heat Shock gene Expression) element, a thermo-responsive RNA structure in 5' UTR which regulates the ibpA gene encoding for an inclusion body-associated protein. We demonstrate here that T4 early protein MotB.1 post-transcriptionally regulates the IbpA protein in Escherichia coli.
