Abstract 1849 Roles of white adipocyte peroxisomes in obesity
During obesity, subcellular organelles within adipocytes undergo perturbation, which results in white adipose tissue (WAT) dysfunction and metabolic diseases. Although peroxisomes are known as one of the organelles involved in lipid metabolism, their roles in white adipocytes during obesity remain unclear. Here, we investigated the potential roles of adipocyte peroxisomes in regulating WAT inflammation and systemic glucose homeostasis during obesity. We found that peroxisomes are abundant in adipocytes, and their abundance decreases in obese mice WAT.
