Abstract 1869 In vivo pulse-chase in C. elegans reveals intestinal histone turnover changes upon starvation
During obesity, subcellular organelles within adipocytes undergo perturbation, which results in white adipose tissue (WAT) dysfunction and metabolic diseases.Although peroxisomes are known as one of the organelles involved in lipid metabolism, their roles in white adipocytes during obesity remain unclear. Here, we investigated the potential roles of adipocyte peroxisomes in regulating WAT inflammation and systemic glucose homeostasis during obesity. We found that peroxisomes are abundant in adipocytes, and their abundance decreases in obese mice WAT.Additionally, adipocytes with defective peroxisomes exhibited increased inflammatory gene expression. Moreover, mice with adipocyte-specific peroxisome defects showed diminished systemic insulin sensitivity in diet-induced obesity.Collectively, these data suggest that adipocyte peroxisomes play crucial roles in the progression of metabolic diseases induced by obesity and represent an important focus for future research.
