Abstract 2094 Molecular Dynamics Insight into Estrogenic Activity of Lignin-derived Alternatives to Bisphenols A
Bisphenol A (BPA), an endocrine-disrupting chemical used as a plasticizer, interacts with nuclear receptors such as the estrogen receptor a (ERa) and estrogen-related receptor g (ERRg) even at low doses, affecting downstream signaling pathways. Estrogen receptor binding can disrupt the endocrine system and lead to hormonal imbalances and other health effects. To develop less bio-active alternatives, lignin-derived compounds have emerged as promising substitutes. Lignin, a natural polymer found in plant cell walls and the most abundant source of aromatic compounds in the biosphere, has shown potential in biocompatible applications.
