Abstract 1716 A Cellpose 2.0 Model for Accurate Segmentation of Autophagic Bodies in Transmission Electron Microscopy Images of Yeast
Autophagy is a degradation pathway important for maintaining cellular health in all eukaryotes. It provides nutrient recycling during starvation, reduces inflammatory signaling, and can clean the cytoplasm from toxic protein aggregates or damaged or excess organelles. It does this by forming a double-membrane vesicle called the autophagosome around the cytosolic cargo to be disposed of. The autophagosome then fuses with the vacuole (or, in animals, the lysosome) to deliver the inner membrane plus the cargo for breakdown by hydrolases.
