Abstract 1276 STEM for All: Minimizing Barriers for New and Nontraditional STEM Students
The School of Life Sciences Undergraduate Research (SOLUR) program supports accelerated research experiences for Arizona State University undergraduates who have research-inspired aspirations. The program involves weekly seminars focused on various professional elements of the research enterprise (e.g. ethics, writing, grants, community outreach). SOLUR has grown and evolved since its 2004 debut and now includes a preparatory class to help encourage historically underrepresented students, community college students, and others to persist in science through both lab experience and mentoring.
