A rare renal vascular variant
Abstract Renal vasculature consists of arteries and veins along with their branches and tributaries. The renal arteries usually arise from the abdominal aorta. Additional or multiple renal arteries are present in up to one-third of the population. Variations of renal veins are usually clinically silent and remain unnoticed until discovered during surgery, autopsy or imaging. Here, we report the case of renal vasculature variant in a 50-year-old female that was discovered incidentally. There was an accessory renal artery on the right side that was arising from the right common iliac artery and an accessory renal vein on the same side that was draining into the contralateral common iliac vein.
