Impact of Partially Substituting Fish Meal with Fermented Plant Protein Sources on Growth Performance and Feed Utilization in Litopenaeus vannamei White Shrimp Larvae

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of partial replacement of fish meal by tow fermented plant protein sources (soybean meal and cotton seed meal) on growth performance and feed utilization of White Shrimp Litopenaeus Vannamei Larvae. Fish meal (FM) were replaced with 25%, 50%, fermented soybean meal (FSBM) and 25%,50% fermented cotton seed meal (FCSM) in addition to (control diet) (0%), to create five iso-nitrogenous and isocaloric experimental diets. The tested diets were administered in 15 plastic tanks (50 L), each randomly stocked with 50 Litopenaeus Vannamei shrimp Larvae with an average initial body weight of 0.50 ± 0.03 g, each dietary treatment was assigned to three replicate tanks. The experiment lasted for 84 day. Generally, shrimp survival rate was significantly effected (P<0.05) among dietary groups of FSBM, FCSM at levels of replacement (25%) and control diet. Growth performance was significantly higher (P<0.05) group of shrimp feed diets which replacement by (25% FSBM and FCSM). However, The data of feed utilization ( feed efficiency, feed conversion ratio and protein efficiency ratio) showed high statistical significant (P<0.05) for groups of shrimp larvae fed on control diet, 25% FSBM and 25% FCSM followed by the group of shrimp fed on 50% FSBM and 50 % FCSM), respectively. This study revealed that up to 25% of FM protein can be replaced by FSBM or FCSM protein in shrimp diets without any negative effects on shrimp growth, feed utilization and shrimp survival rate under this experimental conditional.
