CAR-T THERAPY: A NEW APPROACH TO FIGHT AGAINST CANCER
CAR-T cells, or Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cells, are a type of immunotherapy used primarily to treat certain cancers mostly blood cancer. It is a newly developed targeted based approach in which the blood of the patients has been collected from which the T-cells has been isolated and modified it by adding Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) on it. It has been multiplied in the laboratory and infuse back in the patient blood, by this way targeted therapy is achieved which is much effective and safe compared to normal chemotherapy proven from the results of the clinical trials. The clinical trials overview represents the United States (n = 377) and China (n = 636) while very few from Europe (n=58) compared to US and China shows the efficacious results. From the current scenario, it has been proven that the CAR-T has a high potential and future demand in terms to treat blood cancer such as Leukemia as well as Lymphoma.
