Research on Non-Contact Conductor Galloping Detection in High-Voltage Overhead Transmission Lines by Magnetic Sensor Array

Real-time monitoring of galloping in high-voltage overhead transmission lines is of great significance for ensuring reliable power supply. However, traditional distributed online monitoring methods face challenges such as difficulties in equipment installation and maintenance, high costs, and poor adaptability to environmental conditions. To address these issues, this paper proposes a non-contact online galloping monitoring method based on a magnetic sensing array. This method offers advantages such as simple installation and maintenance, low cost, and immunity to complex climatic conditions. Firstly, the spatial magnetic field under two-degree-of-freedom galloping of multi-conductors is modeled. Secondly, to address the issue of magnetic field feature confusion caused by current fluctuations during galloping, an array is designed to eliminate the influence of current fluctuations on galloping detection. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through numerical simulations using real-world data, demonstrating its potential for widespread application in the online monitoring of galloping in smart grids.
