Analysis of Voltage Instability and Governance Strategies for Islanded Power System of Steel Enterprise
The power system of steel enterprises has high requirements for system reliability and stability. Governance strategies need to be taken to prevent voltage instability after power system failures to guarantee the reliability for continuous production of iron and steel enterprises. Taking the actual power system of a medium-sized steel enterprise as an example, this paper analysis the voltage changes of the islanded power system after the system failures and the effect of the governance strategies. First, the impact of different types of system failures and power deficits on the voltage stability of the islanded power system is analyzed. It is pointed out that the absorption of reactive power by induction motors and the reduction of capacitor compensation are the important causes of voltage instability in the island power system. On this basis, two types of governance strategies is proposed, including increasing reactive power generation and reducing reactive power demand. The effects of governance strategies on the voltage recovery of the islanded power system are analyzed. The cases provide references for the system instability and governance strategies of steel enterprise power systems.
