Integrated Approaches to Carbon Trading and Demand Response for Cost-Efficient and Low-Carbon Energy System

With increasing emphasis on carbon emissions reduction, effective energy management strategies are crucial for integrated energy systems. This work investigates the combined implementation of demand response (DR) and carbon trading mechanisms for enhancing user-side carbon reduction. The proposed approach was experimentally validated, demonstrating a substantial improvement in economic and environmental performance. Specifically, the combined strategy resulted in a 7.04% reduction in total costs and a 2.86% reduction in carbon emissions compared to standalone DR or carbon trading strategies. Furthermore, the integration led to improved load balancing, optimized resource utilization, and enhanced energy system flexibility. The findings underscore the potential of synergistic approaches to reduce carbon emissions while ensuring cost-effectiveness and operational resilience.
