Analysis and Optimisation of Grounding Resistance of Substation Based on Gobi Desert Landform
The grounding system plays a critical role in maintaining power network reliability and personnel safety in substations. Especially under the terrain conditions of the Gobi Desert, the foundation soil of the substation is mainly composed of gravel and pebbles, resulting in a high soil resistivity, further highlighting the importance of reducing grounding resistance to maintain safety. This article explores in depth the effectiveness and economic feasibility of various measures in reducing grounding resistance at substation sites in the Gobi Desert region. Firstly, the soil model of the Gobi Desert area was inverted using CDEGS simulation software, and a three-layer soil model structure was established. Based on this, combined with the single variable method, the impact of optimizing the horizontal grounding network, adding artificial grounding bodies, and replacing soil to reduce resistance measures on the reduction rate and economy was compared. It has been found that increasing the length of the horizontal grounding electrode can effectively address the challenge of high electrical resistivity in deep soil layers in substations located in the Gobi Desert terrain, while also being economically feasible. It has practical guidance and reference value for the design of grounding network in Gobi desert landforms.
