Research on Motion Parameters of Tooth Flank Grinding for Shaping Cutter Based on Four-axis CNC Machine Tool
In view of the low first pass rate of tooth flank grinding for the shaping cutter due to excessive reliance on experience, this paper systematically studied the motion parameters of tooth flank grinding for shaping cutter. Firstly, the mathematical model of the front surface profile of the shaping cutter was given according to tooth displacement characteristics. Secondly, combined with the structural characteristics of the four-axis CNC grinding machine, the grinding motion law of the tooth flank was analyzed and the calculation model of the conical grinding wheel profile was derived based on the conjugate motion theory. Furthermore, the four-axis displacement and velocity parameters of grinding motion of the machine tool were deduced by considering the requirement of tooth flank envelope error. Finally, the grinding example showed that the tooth profile deviation reached class A after one grinding, which proved that the proposed grinding motion parameter calculation model was reasonable, and guiding the tooth flank grinding of shaping cutter could effectively improve grinding efficiency.
