Octa-band Reconfigurable Monopole Antenna with PIN Diode Switches for Versatile Wireless Applications
This paper presents the design and analysis of a reconfigurable monopole antenna capable of operating across multiple frequency bands using PIN diodes as switching elements. By dynamically altering its resonant frequency through switch adjustments, the antenna can flexibly respond to various wireless communication standards. The reconfiguration allows the antenna to switch between wideband and narrowband modes, optimizing its performance for different operational needs. A comprehensive parametric analysis is conducted to assess the effects of different switch configurations on radiation patterns, impedance matching, and gain. The prototype, designed in CST, demonstrates the antenna’s effectiveness in achieving versatile frequency coverage while maintaining performance consistency. This reconfigurable design provides a promising solution for adaptive wireless systems and cognitive radio applications, where flexibility and adaptability are essential.
