Model of Node Frequency Dynamics for Grid-Following Inverters Considering Current Dynamics
The frequency dynamics of the nodes with Grid-Following Inverters(GFL) directly impact the frequency stability of the power system. It is perceived in the previous work that current reference should be regulated as quickly as possible for the stabilization of the inverters. The dynamic node frequency model established in this letter highlights that, contrary to common opinion, a prompt step-switching current reference signal for GFL inverter may not contribute to node frequency stability. A ramp current reference signal is verified to contribute better frequency stability with lower maximum and smaller settling time of the node frequency compared to a step current reference.
