Enhancing Dynamic Performance and Efficiency of Onshore Wind Farms: a Heuristic Approach to Optimal Pitch Control Leveraging Fuzzy Logic

A novel approach has been proposed in this research to enhance power distribution efficiency in wind energy generation systems, focusing on balancing the generated power with grid load demands. The research introduced a fuzzy logic-driven pitch angle controller, aimed at maximizing wind power extraction while ensuring a balance between the wind turbine output and the load demand. Additionally, a static transfer switch is incorporated to boost power generation by compensating for both active and reactive power. The pitch controller's parameters are refined through optimization techniques, applied to a 9 MW wind farm model in MATLAB Simulink optimization. A multi-objective error function is utilized to ensure that the dynamic performance of the optimized controller surpasses that of traditional approaches. The simulation results confirmed the performances of the proposed strategies, demonstrating significant improvements in power generation, distribution efficiency, and load satisfaction. This integrated approach provides a robust solution to managing wind power output, ensuring reliable and efficient energy delivery to meet grid load requirements.
