Active Thermography Based Performance Analysis & Defected Area Calculation of PV Modules
This study focuses at commercially available Si photovoltaic (PV) modules and how active Infrared Thermography (IRT) can detect hotspots. The defective area has been found using computer vision image processing techniques. The thermal image processing was utilized to detect contours and determine the defective area. The results show that, while there is a strong association between temperature difference and module performance, the percentage of defective area has no noticeable impact on module performance.
