Fault Localization in Active Distribution Networks Based on State Estimation

Under the background that distributed generation is widely connected to the distribution network, the traditional fault location technology has become insufficient. In this paper, a new method of distribution network fault location based on state estimation is proposed. By combining the real-time voltage and current measurement data of the distribution network, the current operation state of the system is estimated, and then the iterative algorithm is used to accurately identify the fault location. The simulation analysis of IEEE-33 node distribution network shows that this method significantly improves the accuracy of fault location. And even when the measurement data is uncertain, it also shows satisfactory accuracy, which verifies its robustness and effectiveness in practical application.
