A New Method for Improving the Efficiency of Magnetic Field Energy Harvester by Filling the Air Gap with Magnetic Conductive Materials

In the development of transmission line monitoring technology, the power supply of sensors has become a difficult problem, and magnetic field energy harvesting (MFEH) tech-nology has attracted attention. Aiming at the magnetic leakage problem of the traditional double C-shaped core MFEH, a C-shaped core model filled with semi-solid magnetic conductive substances in the air gap is proposed. The method proposed in this paper involves filling the air gap with semi-solid sub-stances. These substances possess relatively high permeability. By doing so, the total magnetic resistance of the core is reduced. Subsequently, the energy collection efficiency is improved. Using finite element simulation, different cores are modeled under the working conditions of 110kV transmission lines. The results demonstrate that upon filling the magnetic conductive material, the magnetic flux density within the air-gap region experiences an increase, while the magnetic flux density in the core region becomes nearly equivalent to that of the core devoid of an air gap. This achievement can supply power to the sensors of transmission lines, promote the intelligentization of lines, reduce maintenance costs, and help the application expansion of MFEH technology.
