Operation Cost Minimization in South-Eastern PGB PLC Transmission System using Linear Programming OPF Model
This research explores the optimal power flow problem in a closed-loop network in south-eastern part of Bangladesh, consisting of six regions connected by transmission lines and using seven busbars and five generators. The study concentrates on the interior point approach based on linear programming to achieve optimum operating costs in power systems. A strategy based on analysis has been developed, aiming to minimize operational costs while accounting for network constraints to assess the impact of transmission limitations on the most economical distribution of generation. The Power Grid Bangladesh PLC’s load data from 2023, 2024, and 2025 was used to determine the most cost-effective combinations of power flow. Based on analysis, the proposed solution uses network constraints and Lagrange multipliers to determine the most cost-effective generation distribution. The formulation is evaluated through case studies, including a study of Lagrange multipliers for simulated loading levels. The study provides valuable insights into optimizing power flow, with potential applications for enhancing energy efficiency and lowering costs in the Bangladeshi power grid. The proposed analytical solution offers an optimized power flow while minimizing costs in the presence of network constraints.
