Method for Calibrating Navigation Errors Autonomously Using GNSS Technology

This study examines autonomous astronomical navigation for satellites, focusing on the use of attitude sensitivities coupled with an error calibration technique to correct navigation errors from sensitivity measurements and improve on-orbit positioning accuracy. The measurement error's accuracy is affected by fluctuating factors, necessitating periodic recalibration to maintain compensation accuracy. To enhance satellite autonomy and reduce ground station workload, an on-board autonomous calibration method using GNSS data is introduced. It applies the recursive least squares technique to estimate error fitting coefficients in real-time and updates the navigation filtering algorithm for continuous calibration and error compensation. Mathematical simulations and in-orbit tests demonstrate the method's effectiveness in addressing dynamic sensitivity errors, enabling long-term autonomous operation with enhanced accuracy. This approach effectively tackles constant and low-frequency navigation errors from sensitivity measurements, significantly improving on-orbit positioning accuracy. It shows promise for broad application and offers valuable practical implications for satellite navigation in astronomical contexts.
