Multi-body Dynamics-based Design for Jupiter’s Natural Satellite Transfer Mission

In this paper, based on the circular restricted three-body model of Jupiter and Ganymede, the complete transfer process of the probe from Callisto to the Ganymede mooring orbit at different launching moments and transfer times is investigated by taking the Poincaré section of the Ganymede L<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> orbital manifold as a starting point. Several low-energy transfer orbits are obtained by utilizing gravitational assistance to reduce the velocity increment of the probe. Finally, the distributions of velocity increment, transfer time and launch time for different transfer orbits are analyzed, and the optimal orbit families for velocity increment and flight time are obtained respectively. According to calculations, using the gravitational assistance of Ganymede twice within a limited time can reduce fuel consumption up to 690m/s.
