Design Method for Equivalent Simulation Test Articles of Solid Rocket Motor Propellant Structures

Addressing the high production costs and lengthy periods associated with full-scale solid rocket motors, which hamper the feasibility of experimental studies, this research embarks on the design of equivalent simulation test articles for propellant structure under stress concentration. Drawing upon the generalized geometric equivalent model, this work posits an equivalence criterion applicable between the propellant of a full-scale motor and miniature equivalent simulation test articles during the curing cooling process. On this premise, coupled with Abaqus numerical analysis and notch theory, the study devises equivalent simulation test articles for the propellant structure under stress concentration in a specific solid rocket motor, yielding V-shaped, U-shaped, and fan-shaped notch equivalent simulation test articles. The geometric dimensions of the notches are determined, and the reliability of the test articles is substantiated through numerical simulation methods.
