Simulation Study on the Internal Flow Field of Solid Fuel Ramjet Engine with Central Cone

In this paper, a new ramjet charge configuration with a central cone was proposed, three central cones with diameters of 8mm, 16mm, and 32mm were set at 150mm in the combustion chamber, and the numerical simulation research was carried out on the Solid Fuel Ramjet (SFRJ) with the above charge structure. Precisely, the inclusion of the central cone engenders the formation of an additional recirculation zone after its placement. Moreover, the integration of a 32mm central cone effectively constricts the flame front, leading to the establishment of a secondary attachment point. These modifications result in a substantial reduction in the average velocity within the afterburning chamber, amounting to a decrease of approximately 26.48%. As the size of the central cone increases, it leads to heightened oxygen (O<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>) consumption and the average pressure within the afterburning chamber also increased by 9.54%.
