AC and DC Withstand Voltage Tests in Commissioning Test Procedure Designed for ±535kV HVDC Cable
The high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable commissioning test is a comprehensive inspection conducted on newly installed or overhauled cable systems to ensure the quality of the cables and their accessories for meeting the design and operational requirements. Through the commissioning test, potential defects and hidden dangers in the HVDC cables can be detected in a timely manner, preventing cable failures during operation and reducing power outages caused by cable malfunctions. Among the many test items in the commissioning tests, the AC and DC withstand voltage tests are significant and are the most troubleshooting test items. In this paper, a detailed test procedure of AC and DC withstand voltage tests have been designed according to relevant nation standards and onsite operation and maintenance experience. Furthermore, the designed AC and DC withstand voltage tests were actually carried out on a ±535kV HVDC cable and the specific test data was obtained. This paper provides a useful reference for commissioning test for HVDC cable and has important engineering value and scientific significance.
