Efficient Load Distribution in C-RAN: A Priority-based Level Order Traversal Approach
The Cloud Radio Access Network addresses future communication challenges by managing massive traffic demands through its cloud-based infrastructure. C-RAN’s dynamic adjustments of Baseband Units to Remote Radio Heads connections enable flexible resource allocation based on traffic conditions, allowing overloaded BBUs to offload RRHs to underloaded BBUs to enhance Quality of Service and minimise user disconnections. This paper introduces a C-RAN framework with an intelligent algorithm using a Priority-based Level Order Traversal Approach, identifying suitable BBUs to efficiently reallocate RRHs while maintaining connectivity. Compared to the Genetic Algorithm, our approach minimises handovers with the minimum possible RRH switches while strategically balancing network load, thereby improving Quality of Service.
