Generation and Mapping of Eddy Current
Based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction and Ohm's law, this study designed and developed an experimental apparatus to investigate the distribution of eddy currents inside and outside a solenoid. The induced electromotive force (EMF) was observed and measured using an oscilloscope, with the data imported into a computer for analysis using MATLAB. This processing enabled the visualization of the induced EMF and eddy electric field distributions at the same level, from which the eddy current distribution was derived. The experiment serves as a comprehensive inquiry-based activity for college physics education, providing a quantitative foundation for deeper insights into the behavior of eddy currents.
