Identifying interface design factors impacting user experience in digital learning platforms- A pilot study

E-learning has become a key component of the modern educational system due to its versatility, accessibility, and convenience. The area of digital learning remains underexplored within design education in developing countries. Research into design learning platforms differs from that of traditional e-learning platforms. The proposed study aims to identify the elements that affect the user experience of the design learning platform, alongside conducting a pilot study for deeper exploration through an instrument design and validation for assessing user experience. While most existing pilot studies originate from the medical sector, there is a notable lack of research within design disciplines. The study is conducted through a comprehensive literature review, direct observation, and expert opinion. Subsequently, a pilot test of the platform was conducted to validate and ensure the reliability of the survey. The research utilizes the UX Garrett's five-plane model as its foundation. The identified five factors demonstrated a Cronbach's alpha value exceeding 0.75, confirming their reliability and appropriateness for broader research. In the study, expert agreement (I-CVI) was calculated and found to meet the satisfactory content validity level. This research emphasizes key UI/UX features that substantially influence student satisfaction and engagement levels in design learning platforms. This research enhances the understanding of principal usability issues in an e-learning design platform by analyzing the responses received from experts and students. The findings provide insights for academia and digital learning platform administrators, highlighting potential factors that affect platform utilization. The outcomes of this research can potentially yield enhanced knowledge and insights for researchers in e-learning education.
