Presentasi Diri Gibran Rakabuming Raka pada Debat Pilpres 2024

As a vice-presidential candidate and the son of President Joko Widodo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka faces the challenge of presenting himself as a competent figure. One of the events leading up to the election is the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Debates. The candidate pairs (paslon) appear to demonstrate their ability to understand various national issue strategies. During the debate, the candidates employ self-presentation strategies. According to Schutz (1997), self-presentation is divided into four types: defensive, assertive, offensive, and protective. This research aims to examine how Gibran utilizes his personal attributes and background, such as being the son of Jokowi and a young leader, when appearing in the vice-presidential debate. The article uses qualitative content analysis by analyzing two vice-presidential debate broadcasts, specifically the second and fourth debates. The article observes and analyzes the verbal arguments presented by Gibran during both debate events. The findings of this research show that Gibran presented himself assertively and offensively in both vice-presidential debates. Gibran displayed three out of the four dimensions of Schutz's Self-Presentation, namely defensive, offensive, and assertive. The dominant aspects in the assertive dimension include claiming achievements, presenting himself as a moral figure, associating with positive groups, and demonstrating his leadership strength. As for the offensive behaviors, he criticized the questioners, posed ironic questions, and attacked arguments.

The dominant aspects in the assertive dimension include claiming achievements, presenting himself as a moral figure, associating with positive groups, and demonstrating his leadership strength.
