Komersialisasi Platform Streaming Audio dalam Industri Audio Digital dan Implikasinya pada Konsumen
This research focuses on the commercialization of audio streaming platforms within the digital audio industry. The presence of technology in human life today has led to a shift in the needs and consumption patterns of audio broadcasts by the public. Platformization by players in the digital audio industry has ultimately transformed audio streaming platforms into commercialization channels. Numerous benefits are offered by audio streaming platforms, such as subscription-based methods and user-generated content platforms. Creator consumers are pampered with algorithms that support their work, allowing it to be marketed for free and reach a wide audience. Creator consumers can also tailor their work to market preferences using data provided by audio streaming platforms. In addition to the benefits, the presence of audio streaming platforms as a new form of entertainment needed by the public has negative impacts and disadvantages for some parties, such as unfair profit distribution, copyright violations, and consumer data exploitation. Recommendations for regulations aimed at providing fairness and equality to consumers are ultimately needed, such as replacing the pro-rata payment system with a user-centric payment system, so that royalties paid can be directly distributed to creator consumers. This research uses a literature review method, where the data used is based on previous research results. In this study, the perspective of industrial technology and communication used is Technological Determinism by McLuhan, as the researcher observes that the presence of technology has changed human lifestyles and consumption patterns.
