Growth performance, carcass characteristic, biochemical profile and immunological status of Narmada Nidhi chicken reared as broiler in response to concentrations of dietary energy and protein

The effect of different dietary concentrations of energy and protein suggested for broilers was evaluated on the growth performance, carcass characteristic, biochemical profile and immunological status of Narmada Nidhi chicken. An experiment was conducted for 42 days, with 140 unsexed day old chicks under four dietary treatments with different energy (kcal/kg) and protein (%) concentrations -T 1 (3200 kcal/kg, 23% and 3200 kcal/kg, 20%), T 2 (3000 kcal/kg, 23%; 31000 kcal/kg, 22% and 3200 kcal/kg, 20%), T 3 (3000 kcal/kg, 22%; 3050 kcal/kg, 21.5% and 3100 kcal/kg, 19.5%) and T 4 (2950 kcal/kg, 21.5% and 3050 kcal/kg, 20%).Each treatment had five replicates with seven birds in each replicate.Feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, carcass characteristics, serum parameters and haemagglutination inhibition titre were estimated. From the experiment it was elucidated that significantly higher (P<0.05)average daily feed intake (g) for T 3 (2 nd and 4 th week), T 4 (3 rd week) and T 1 (6 th week) were observed.Overall average daily feed intake was higher (P<0.05) for T 1 and T 4 .T 1 had the highest (P<0.05)average daily gain (g) and final average body weight (g).Best (P<0.05)feed conversion ratio was observed for T 1 .Relative weight (g) of most of the cut-up parts and organs was significantly higher (P<0.05) for T 1 treatment.Levels (mg/dL) of triglyceride and total cholesterol were significantly increased (P<0.05) for T 4 and T 2 , respectively. There were no significant differences in haemagglutination inhibition titre among the treatments.Variable concentrations of dietary energy and protein influenced the performance of Narmada Nidhi chicken and T 1 diet was found best for the performances of Narmada Nidhi chicken reared as broiler.
