Effects of plyometric training on risk of lower extremity injury and muscle strength attribute in women pro basketball players

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of 8 weeks of Plyometric training on the risk of lower limb injuries and muscle strength attributes of women professional basketball players. The subjects of this study were 18 basketball players registered in the Women's Professional Basketball League (WKBL) into experimental groups(EG n=9) and control groups(CG n=9). Plyometric training was conducted in the EG, twice a week for 8 weeks for 60 minutes. The risk of lower body injury was found to have decreased due to significant differences in left and right postero-medial, postero-lateral, and composite scores. There were significant differences in muscle strength attributes in 20m dash, 10m shuttle run, Sargent jumping, and basketball throwing. In conclusion, 8 weeks of plyometric training had a significant effect on reducing the risk of lower limb injuries and improving muscle strength attributes of female professional basketball players.
