Patient Safety and Tools for Implementation in Hospital Settings
Abstract Patient safety is paramount in healthcare quality, focusing on reducing medical errors, preventing harm, and optimizing clinical outcomes. Various tools and strategies have been developed to enhance patient safety in hospitals, including standardized protocols, digital health solutions, and workforce training. This review examined key tools such as checklists, incident reporting systems, electronic health records, barcode medication administration, and clinical decision support systems. Implementing these tools can strengthen patient safety culture, reduce adverse events, and improve healthcare efficiency. Despite advancements, challenges such as resistance to change and financial constraints persist, requiring a structured, evidence-based approach to patient safety implementation.
