Scientific foundations of energy supply to forest terminals based on the use of logging waste

The promotion of the main logging areas to the hard-to-reach regions of the North and the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation poses new challenges to the industry related to further improving production efficiency. With an increase in the distance for the export of roundwood to processing plants and the subsequent long return transport routes of the northern direction to provide the Arctic territories with lumber, transportation costs increase significantly. One of the ways to increase production efficiency in these conditions is to organize the processing of roundwood in the immediate vicinity of the cutting area on the basis of autonomous geographically distributed small forest terminals. The paper proposes a concept for the creation, design methodology, and calculation methods of biofuel power plants to support energy-intensive technological processes in geographically distributed forest terminals in the North and the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.
