Pragmatic-Discursive Analysis of Speech Acts in a Deaf Sahrawi Person: Intersectionality and Spanish Sign Language
The present research project documents the experience of a deaf person born in a Sahrawi refugee camp and taken in by an Andalusian family at the age of seven. Their testimony is analyzed from a discourse-pragmatic perspective, with a focus on speech acts. The participant uses Spanish Sign Language (LSE) as their primary means of communication, and speech acts are classified based on glossed expressions in LSE. Additionally, four semi-structured interviews were conducted with participants representing the different communities with which the deaf person intersects: two members of the Andalusian deaf community (CODA and SODA) and two hearing Sahrawi individuals.
