Dynamics of endotracheal tube cuff pressure during general anesthesia with xenon in children in outpatient dental practice
Background. Excessive or insufficient pressure in the endotracheal tube (ETT) cuff is one of the factors of possible complications after general anesthesia in pediatric outpatient dental practice. Objective. To evaluate the dynamics of endotracheal tube cuff pressure during general anesthesia with xenon in outpatient dental practice. Material and methods. An open prospective randomized study included 53 children (17 girls, 36 boys). Of these, 19 children were fitted with ETT Apexmed, 17 children — ETT Integral, 17 children — ETT Oxytec B. In all cases, polyvinyl chloride ETTs of appropriate size with high-volume low-pressure cuffs were used. Statistical processing was performed in the Statistica 10 program. Results. Comparing the endotracheal tube cuff pressure after intubation and before extubation, we found no significant between-group and within-group differences. Conclusion. In case of general anesthesia with xenon in outpatient dental practice, endotracheal tube cuff pressure does not significantly change regardless of manufacturer and time of anesthesia.
