SMC Controller For PV Powered EV Charging Station Using Zeta Converter
Electric Vehicles are the one rapidly being adopted to transform the transportation sector. However, the transition process does require robust and environmentally friendly charging infrastructure. Conventional electric vehicle charging stations typically rely on the conventional electricity grid, which can be quite susceptible to variations and heavily relies on nonrenewable sources of energy. A novel system integrated with renewable source into electric vehicle charging infrastructure, overcoming inefficiency and unreliability, is presented herein. The application of a zeta converter has been utilized in the control mechanism for the adjustment of PV output voltage to operate in both step-up and step-down configurations that allow for proper power transfer with maximum efficiency. SMC-based robust control mechanisms have been established for the uncertainties and nonlinearities of the given system to determine the solar irradiance and loading conditions. Simulation results prove that the system is able to work stably while achieving MPPT and keeping the consistency of EV charging performance.
