Performance Evaluation of Reduced Switch Multi Level Inverter With LSPWM and SHE
Meta-heuristic techniques have shown remarkable performance in solving nonlinear optimization problems, Current study aims at conducting an inclusive comparison of conventional CHBMLI with Grasshopper optimization algorithm adopted for Selective harmonic elimination (SHE) and conventional PWM technique, also study focus on performance evaluation of reduced switch MLI with level shifted PWM technique. The optimization technique has been applied to 5 level multilevel inverter with angle of switching as variables and total harmonic distortion (THD) as an objective function. These optimized pulse patterns are obtained by the Grasshopper optimization algorithm (GHO), Optimized angle of switching have been obtained for 5 level inverters for different modulation index (MI) from 0.05 to 0.9. The Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) for the output phase voltage and line voltage were found to be reduced in comparison with the conventional PWM technique.
