Design of X-Band Radar Antenna for Through-Wall Penetration
This work describes a Vivaldi antenna designed at 10 GHz, which is specialized for radar use by means of through-wall penetration. The Vivaldi uses ultrasound horns and dimension optimizations for better gain and radiation characteristics. Furthermore, by utilizing FR4 epoxy as the substrate material, the design achieves a gain of 7.42 dB, which gives a VSWR of 1.63. The distinctive miniature and lightweight constructions of the antenna along with the advanced features of the device makes it ideal for surveillance, search and rescue and defense, where through wall performance is needed. Simulation results show that the antenna's performance is stable in the frequency range of interest, ensuring practical implementation of the design goals.
