An Efficient Plagiarism Detection Algorithm by Ordering Texts of a Document under Scrutiny

Plagiarism checking is utmost important to find the similarity, authentication and content verification of a document, painting, picture, song, technical drawings, etc. In this paper, we present an efficient textual plagiarism detection algorithm to check the similarity of a document by ordering the texts in the document. In the proposed algorithm, words in the texts of the document are ordered according to the Unicode values. Then, a link to the next word is given after each word by using the memory location of the next word and thus, the ordered document is built. Similarity is sought by comparing each word in the search space with the ordered document. Since the words in a document are ordered, we make use of interpolation search to speed up the search process. The simulation results show that the algorithm can potentially be used for fast plagiarism checking.
