The performance of modified SEPIC converter for dynamic conditions with PI controller

DC-DC converters, the input voltage level is transferred to the load at the desired value with appropriate control methods. In recent years, switched-operated DC-DC converters, such as the modified SEPIC converter, have been widely used. These converters improve system performance by reducing power loss and significantly improving energy efficiency. In this study, the performance of the modified SEPIC converter was evaluated under five different scenarios (basic scenario, output voltage increase, load change, input voltage decreases under constant load condition, and load change with simultaneous input voltage decreases). By presenting the dynamic model of the converter and state-space equations, the behavior of the system under the proportional-integral (PI) controller is examined. The modified SEPIC converter was designed in the MATLAB/SIMULINK 2021b environment, simulated and the results were analyzed. The simulation results revealed that the system reacts to the transient regime state in as little as 0.03 seconds, providing 99.99% efficiency with low voltage and current oscillations.
