Critical Factors for Privacy and User Retention in Event-Based Social Media Apps
This research explores the critical factors behind developing a successful event-based social media app, focusing on platforms with event features that lack a primary event focus. Although past apps gained momentary popularity, they often failed to sustain users long-term. This study identifies strategies to improve retention and scalability, emphasizing three pillars: user engagement, privacy protection, and platform scalability. Using a dual approach of data analysis and a comprehensive review, we examine retention strategies, data privacy concerns, and AI's role in improving user experiences. Furthermore, the research evaluates how perceived user safety and mental health impact sustainability, while highlighting best practices in mobile app design. These insights inform the development of InterestLink, a proposed app addressing these factors.
