IoT based Smart Trolley with Integrated RFID reader and Advanced Billing System
In our regular life, grocery shopping has become a daily routine, and on weekends and holidays, crowds tend to grow. After choosing different things and packing them onto carts, customers go to the billing counter to pay. Most supermarkets use barcode technology to scan things these days. However, this technology is becoming outdated since it requires the barcode tags to be oriented precisely for line-of-sight reading, which might be inefficient. At the billing counter, the cashier uses a barcode scanner to scan each item, which takes time and sometimes causes long lines. A "RFID-Based Smart Trolley with Advanced Billing System" is suggested in this study as a remedy for these problems. It describes the design of an RFID-enabled autonomous grocery cart. To improve the shopping experience, an RFID reader that is integrated with electronic gear is mounted on the trolley. There is an RFID tag on each item in the store. The information from the RFID reader’s scanning of these tags is processed by a microprocessor and shown on an LCD panel. As items are added to the basket, prices are immediately added to the final bill; this bill is updated and displayed in real time on the LCD display. Additionally, the technology makes it simple to remove items from the cart by automatically modifying the charge when an item is removed. When compared to conventional techniques, this smart trolley system greatly expedites the checkout process, making shopping more convenient and effective. It improves overall service quality by reducing crowding at the cashier counters and cutting down on the time and effort required for billing.
