Kansei Engineering Applications to Multifunctional Cooker

In an era where consumer preferences and satisfaction directly influence product success, understanding the emotional and perceptual responses of users is crucial for creating designs that resonate with them. Kansei Engineering, a method focused on translating user emotions and perceptions into design features, offers a powerful solution for achieving user-centred products. However, for manufacturers, identifying these influential design factors can be both complex and costly. This research explores how Kansei Engineering can be applied to multifunctional cookers, utilizing a database of 213 user-generated Kansei words to assess design elements through Principal Component Analysis (PCA). By incorporating these insights into the design process, the study demonstrates how Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) and Dynamic Programming (DP) can reduce design costs while enhancing user satisfaction. The results reveal that the Increasing Sequence Algorithm, when paired with Dynamic Programming, provides the most effective method for optimizing product design. Ultimately, this study highlights how combining emotional insights with advanced analytical techniques can streamline product development, reduce costs, and deliver a design that better aligns with user expectations.
