Artificial Intelligence - Driven Internet of Things for Elderly Well-Being: From Assisted Living to Predictive Health Monitoring

Due to the increasing population of elderly people, it has become crucial to design effective healthcare management systems that can ensure the timely consumption of medications and frequent check-ups. This paper proposes an innovative IoT based healthcare system coupled with AI and edge computing for the real time management of the elderly healthcare. It also observes vital signs, tracks medication intake and assess the general health of the subject. It uses predictive models of real time and historical health data to learn and identify anomalies and need of medical intervention. If needed, the system suggests the right medication and notifies the caregivers to keep a check on the patient to make it a more proactive and personalized healthcare. The AI model of the system is implemented at the edge server to improve the response time and to reduce the dependency on the cloud computing. Anomalies are detected with 98.7 Percent accuracy and medication recommendations are accurate 96.3 Percent in the case of proposed system, thus providing efficient and accurate healthcare management. From the findings of the experiments, the system is revealed to enhance the quality of care for the elderly and decrease the number of emergencies.
