High Gain Filtering Antenna using Slot Loaded E Shaped Patch and Defective Ground Structure
This paper focuses on a single layer microstrip filtering antenna loaded with slots and integrated with defective ground structure (DGS) designed to improve gain parameters. This antenna design incorporates a diamond slot in the middle of the patch, surrounded by two parasitic patches and a diamond shaped defective ground structure (DGS). This antenna has been developed, build and tested using Rogers 4003C material, with a relative permittivity of 3.55 and a substrate thickness of 0.8 mm. The results provide a peak gain of 10 dB at the desired frequency, return loss less than -18 dB and upper and lower band rejection of -11.7 dB and -11.5 dB respectively. Its overall dimensions measure 37 x 51 x 0.8 mm3.
