Leader Selection for Intracompany Projects Using Multi-Criteria Decision Making Techniques

This paper presents an innovative decisionmaking model for improving the process of selecting and deploying leaders’ intracompany projects. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to develop a systematic approach to selecting team leaders. This approach matches the individual competencies of leaders with the requirements of projects. The study evaluates leaders on criteria such as self-confidence, strategic thinking, teamwork experience, crisis management and communication skills. These criteria, developed through an extensive literature review and expert opinion, allowed the candidates to be ranked and assigned to the most appropriate projects. As part of the study, in a hypothetical company with 10 leadership candidates, the individuals were assessed against the leadership criteria and each candidate's suitability for the projects was rated. The scores of the candidates were normalized between 1 and 10 and the leaders were categorized as "very competent", "moderately competent" and "less competent". According to the results, the highest scoring leader candidate L1 was placed in the "highly competent" category with a score of 10, while the lowest scoring leader candidate L9 and L10 were placed in the "less competent" category with a score of 2.57.
