Design of defected ground structure patch antenna for multiband applications
The increasing demand for compact, better performance antennas has driven innovation in wireless communication systems. The designed inverted L patch antenna offers a promising solution by addressing key limitations of conventional microstrip antennas, such as restricted bandwidth, low gain, and suboptimal radiation efficiency. This study presents the design and optimization of the inverted L patch antenna, comparing two configurations: a full ground structure and a modified partial ground structure. Simulation based analysis reveals that adopting a partial ground structure enhances impedance matching, increases bandwidth, and reduces return loss, leading to improved overall performance. These advantages make the antenna suitable for a range of applications, including 5G Sub 6 GHz networks, WiMAX, UAV communications, and X band radar systems. With its compact form, broad bandwidth, and enhanced radiation efficiency, the Inverted L Patch Antenna emerges as a vital component for advanced wireless systems, military applications, and satellite communications.
