Forest Fire Detection Using YOLOv8 In Drone Images
Forest fires, fueled by climate change, extreme heat, prolonged droughts, and human activities, pose significant threats to biodiversity, air quality, and human safety. They not only destroy vast forested areas but also contribute to global warming through the release of carbon emissions. While traditional detection methods like satellite imaging and ground patrols play a role in fire monitoring, their effectiveness is often hindered by delayed response times and limited coverage, especially in remote regions. As fire hazards escalate rapidly, early and accurate detection becomes critical for minimizing damage. This research highlights the necessity of adopting advanced, technology-driven systems, such as AI-based detection models and autonomous monitoring solutions, to improve real-time fire identification and response strategies. Integrating these innovations can enhance firefighting efforts, reduce environmental destruction, and safeguard natural resources more effectively.
